Sam's version of events...
SA: "The owners have never questioned the style of play ever. They've never said to me I have to change my style, it's a myth that they have."

And there was me thinking Sullivan's very public utterances on this subject were pretty unambiguous...

So what is Sam at with these comments..?

BERKS and/or BFS in bullshitting the fans complete non-shock.

Re: Sam's version of events...
I think Allardyce would've changed things anyway this season, irrespective of the comments regarding style.

It was clearly evident that we needed something extra in the final third, largely, but not entirely, due to Carroll's long abscence from the first team.

Allardyce is not stupid and always thought he would address that area in the summer just gone.

Re: Sam's version of events...
Think it was more about transfer policy - which by extension led to a one dimensional playing style - than the playing style itself.

You really think that if Carroll hadn't have got injured, BFS would have still suddenly started to play a more expansive game? No way.

Re: Sam's version of events...
They told him to score more goals, not how to score those goals.

They also put constraints on the transfer policy.

I don't remember reading any quotes from G&S that they said they forced BFS to change style. They have said that the style has changed and that is great though.

A little bit of success ( we've actially had none) and the c*ny can't stay quiet.

If Carroll and Nolan were fit we would be playing the same as always.

Eddie,dunno...

depends what results we'd achieved, if he hadn't had the long spell off, and instead had had a decent run of games.

That's all conjecture though.

If he hadn't seen that a fair bit needed adjusting final third and hadn't gone out and addressed it in the summer, especially as we had funds, then that would make him one of the worst managers to run a club in the top tier.

Which he's not.

I truly believe it was a joint decision to play ugly ensuring promotion, to stay up in our first season and avoid the second- season syndrome.

Re: Sam's version of events...
Sullivans conversations with the press are not the same as discussions he has with the manager, simply put.

I believe Sam, I never believed the "better football" rubbish, it's complete nonsense really, you can tell inefficient players to play like world class players till your blue in the face but it won't make any difference. Better players mean better football, it always has and always will.

Re: Sam's version of events...
I don't take too much notice of BFS and what he says. I just look at the results we get and the team performance and style of play.

The interviews, BFS's bravado and hubris are just noise. My advice is that it is best to just let it go if you can. :)

Re: Sam's version of events...
I know Allardyce doesn't care for a nanosecond if I or any other West Ham fan respect or even like him.

But he could go a long way coming across a lot more likeable if only once every while he admitted of getting something wrong.

He never does. He's always finding excuses. It's never his fault. It's always the referee, injuries or a certain individual player missing a shot or causing a penalty. When bad things happen, others are to blame.

If things go well it's all due to his genius. Like I said, I don't like the man, I don't respect him.
He won't care.

this is probably his way of softening us up for the return to the first team of his 'leader of men'. no doubt it winds him up not having him out there
